All members of the Australian All Breeds of Miniature Goat and Sheep Society Inc. (AABMGS Society Inc.) upon joining or renewing their membership, hereby agree to the following code of ethics and conduct.
The Member acknowledges that their conduct as a breeder and or exhibitor reflects on the AABMGS Society Inc. and undertake to conduct themselves in a manner that will not be considered injurious to AABMGS Society Inc.
OUR MEMBERS AGREE TO:
Always promote AABMGS Society Inc. in a positive manner.
Ensure that all animals kept by them are bred, raised and maintained according to current animal welfare standards.
Ensure that they adhere to all State and Federal laws pertaining to the keeping of goats and or sheep.
Aim to breed to the standards outlined in the various AABMGS Society Inc. Miniature Goat and Sheep Breed standards.
Aim to breed in a manner that will improve the quality of their chosen breed. * Avoid the use of an animal with major defects or hereditary diseases as part of their breeding program. * Ensure that any animal sold for breeding purposes is, to the best of their knowledge, free of defects that would be considered as a disqualification fault in the breed.
Notify the Registrar if animals are sold as, ‘Pet Only”, (not to be used for breeding), to ensure progeny of the animal are not registered in the future. * Ensure that the purchaser is aware of the reason why an animal is being sold as, ‘Pet Only’.
Ensure all information provided to the purchaser is true and correct to the best of their knowledge. * Be honest and accountable when advertising and selling animals.
Only advertise animals as being of a particular percentage, if certain of the pedigree of the animal.
Ensure that registrations and transfers of sold animals are completed within the 14-day time period as outlined in the rules of the AABMGS Society Inc.
!Any Person found to be knowingly in breach of State or Federal laws, including but not limited to biosecurity, tagging and transport and/or this Code, may not be accepted as a Member of the AABMGS Inc. or have their Membership renewed.!
AABMGS OBJECTIVES
To be inclusive of all goat and sheep breeders in Australia who wish to develop new and existing miniature breeds of goats.
To make inclusive and appropriate provisions for registering and recording all goat and sheep with miniature breeding in Australia.
To compile, print and publish information at intervals, in the form of a Herd Book to assist new and existing breeders in their individual breeding programmes in Australia.
To promote and encourage the importation of all miniature breeds of goat and sheep into Australia.
To encourage affiliation with all other goat and sheep breeding organisations in Australia and overseas.
To establish relationships with all other goat and sheep breeding organisations in Australia and overseas, and encourage the exchange of information with organisations which have similar objectives.
To promote and continuously raise the standards of breeding and the health of all goat and sheep with miniature breeding.
To promote public awareness of the health, welfare and good goat keeping practices in Australia.
To collect and publish helpful and desirable information related to breeding, keeping and exhibiting miniature goatand sheep in Australia.
To uphold the value of all miniature goat and sheep bred in Australia.
To value and appreciate the knowledge, passion, time and effort of all goat and sheep breeders in Australia.
To promote the AABMGS Inc. and all breeds of miniature goat and sheep via our website, social media, publications, displays and the holding of exhibitions.
To encourage all members to become competent and confident breeders and exhibitors of miniature goat and sheep.
To encourage members to become competent and qualified to judge the various breeds of miniature goats and sheep
To compile a list of all members and their qualifications.
To encourage ethical conduct by the members in relation to miniature goat and sheep marketing and exhibiting.
To promote the development of a cooperative network of miniature goat and sheep breeders based on equality and inclusiveness.
To make contributions towards ribbons, trophies, awards and prizes for a variety of miniature goat and sheep competitions and exhibitions.
To promote miniature goat and sheep breeding in Australia in any other way not already mentioned.
To continuously strive to be in touch with the needs of all breeders and owners of miniature goatsand sheep in Australia and overseas.
